Guidelines for International Students

Criteria for the selection of international candidates:

2.Curriculum vitae;

3.A research project proposal that is in concordance with one of the program’s lines of research;

4.Certificate of Proficiency in Portuguese as a Foreign Language /CELPE–Brás. Information available at:

5.Proof of knowledge of the English language by way of an authenticated copy of a Michigan (ECCE, MTELP, ECP), or Cambridge (FCE, CAE, CPE) certificate or proof that the candidate has studied in an English-speaking country for at least one year;

6.Proof that the applicant has been awarded a study grant for the duration of the course, issued by the relevant organization in their country of origin.

7.If a candidate does not have proof of proficiency in the English language, he or she must take the Program’s own test of English Reading Comprehension and obtain a score greater than or equal to 6 (out of 10).

8.Applicants for the CPqAM/Fiocruz Master’s/Doctorate in Public Health must present a document, issued by an appropriate government organization, authorizing their residence in Brazil.

9.The applicant should also refer to the guidelines published by Fiocruz’s Integrated Postgraduate Program for International /Students (PRINTE/PG) (in Portuguese)

10.Cases where any of these criteria are absent will be evaluated by the Program’s Strictu Sensu Postgraduate College Board.
