The program

The training of human resources for the National Health System (SUS) is an important institutional mission component of the Research Center Aggeu Magalhães (CPqAM), Fiocruz Pernambuco. Its Graduate Program in Public Health offers Ph.D. Programs and Academic Master’s Degree that has, currently, 100 students enrolled. In the area of education, it also offers the Professional Master's Degree in Public Health management, with three thematic areas - Management and Evaluation of Health Services, Management in the C&T in Health, and Management of Health Surveillance Systems - the specialization in Public Health and multi-professional residence in Public Health.

The Center also offers non-regular specialization courses in areas such as Environmental Monitoring, Management and Human Resources Policy Applied to Health, and Data Analysis in Epidemiology, and, in addition, advisers and agents of environmental health up-dating and habilitation courses.

The courses are developed from the perspective of integration between various fields of knowledge production, seeking to integrate Epidemiology and molecular and cell biology, with the understanding of health policy, management and evaluation of programs and health services. The faculty consists of over 45 Doctors.

The training of human resources held at the Center attracts the attention of professors and researchers from other states, like Alagoas, Paraíba, Ceará and Rio Grande do Norte. However, the Graduate Program in Public Health - which is evaluated every three years by the Coordination Faculty Improvement (Capes), linked to the Ministry of Education - is expanding its reach to receive students from other Brazilian states and other countries, particularly Latin America and Africa.
